3C Institute and IBM will host the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology (OET) on the RTP leg of their national Ed Tech Developer’s Tour on Tuesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to noon at The Frontier in Durham, NC.
As OET Director Richard Culatta explains, the tour is “designed to ignite collaboration among entrepreneurs, developers, educators, funders, and students to work together to solve persistent problems in education.” Each stop will include a discussion of the office’s recently released Ed Tech Developer’s Guide, which highlights critical needs and opportunities to develop digital tools and learning apps for teachers, school leaders, students, and families.
“RTP Ed Tech: Solving K–12’s Biggest Challenges” will feature former Governor Beverly Perdue as the keynote speaker, and Marcus Noel, ed tech developer lead at the OET will give a presentation on sharing insights into developing ed tech for schools.
3C Institute CEO Dr. Melissa DeRosier will speak on a panel about creating serious games for scalable learning along with Phaedra Boinodiris, Serious Gaming/Gamification Global Leader for IBM, and Dr. James Lester, director of the Center for Educational Informatics at North Carolina State University.
Additional speakers include exemplars from the RTP ed tech entrepreneurial community and interviews with local policymakers and leaders in the education ecosystem.
