In the Summer 2013 issue of The Advocate, a publication of the Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice (APA Division 37), 3-C ISD president Dr. Melissa DeRosier shares advice on establishing a career path that combines research and clinical practice.
In “Combining Two Passions: Clinical Service and Clinical Research,” Dr. DeRosier notes, “If we want to truly meld research and practice, each must work collaboratively and cooperatively with equal value and input.”
Dr. DeRosier recommends that early career psychologists interested in both research and clniical practice clarify whether they want to find a job that combines these two areas or try to establish their own organization. She shares a few lessons she learned in founding 3-C ISD and 3-C Family Services 12 years ago.
